From one heart to another

About Salt & Luz

Salt & Luz is a response to Jesus’ call for us to be a salt and light to the world and ultimately glorify Him.

It all started as a simple pun when I learned that "Luz", my nickname, meant light in Spanish -- hence Salt & Luz, referencing Matthew 5:13-16 which says,

“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

As time had passed, God continued to water and nurture this little seed in my heart, to use my gifts to create beautiful things to help spread faith, hope, and love and ultimately lead people to Jesus.

What great joy it is to be salt and light for others, bringing Jesus into their lives!

About Luz

Hi! My name is Luz and I am the little Catholic artist behind Salt & Luz.

Ever since I was young, I liked doing the "old granny hobbies" and being an entrepreneur. I once used to only enjoy selling and earning out of what I make, but thanks be to God as he gave me a larger purpose with this passion.

I am a cradle Catholic myself who grew up praying and loving God, but eventually drifted away during my years in university. Particularly in 2019, I started following and believing in horoscopes, tarot cards, divination, and other new age beliefs in hopes of finding a boyfriend.

Through God's providence, I reverted back to my faith in God with the help of a non-Catholic Christian friend of mine, who was a literal Salt & Light the moment she reminded me that new age and divination beliefs are not of God. She assured me of God's mercy in the midst of my fear of the weight of sin I've committed against God.

Through God's mercy, Mama Mary's protection, my sister's family - especially my nieces, my family, and my friend then who's now my fiancé -- they altogether helped me get back into the Catholic faith, and deepen my Catholic faith and life.

I'm very blessed to encounter His great love and mercy through the Church's sacraments and the Church.

May God be glorified in all I do and am, by serving Him through the gifts and talents He has given me.

"I am the servant of the Lord; may it be done to me according to Thy Word."
